About the Course

Financial planning can be complex, but when a family has a loved one with special needs it can be even more complicated. The special needs financial planner requires additional skills, knowledge, and empathy to advise families that include a loved one with special needs. The special needs planner also needs to understand the planning challenges special needs families encounter at each life stage of their loved one. This session covers the planning strategies for parents at these life stages while planning for the lifetime needs of their loved one with special needs. Two key questions will be addressed: 1) How much money will be needed at the various stages of my loved one’s lifetime and 2) What risk management strategies can be implemented to protect my special needs loved one’s financial position while also filling in gaps in his or her funding resources.
