SPEAKERS BUREAU
By Jane Lorenz

Have you ever heard of Enlightened Self Interest?  That’s when you do good things because it has a good effect on you too!  For example, your dog let’s you know that he needs to go outside.  You stop what you’re doing and take him out.  You’ve done a good thing by being thoughtful of your dog’s comfort and you don’t have to clean up a mess from your floor!

Now, please turn your attention to the PFAC Speakers Bureau.  Sending our members out into the world to talk about PFAC and what Professional Fiduciaries do will build the good reputation of PFAC and our profession.  That is a good thing.  But let’s talk about what it will do for you!

How many of you attended “Marketing your Practice” at the May Conference?  For those of you who didn’t get to hear that excellent presentation – he strongly recommended that we each get out into our communities and do public speaking and writing.
Some of the fiduciaries that were in that class cried out loud and I think one or two actually rolled on the floor in agony.  And some of you may feel uncomfortable at the thought of public speaking.  I want you to know that I will help you!  If you’re willing to try, I’m willing to coach you!

Now, some of you are saying – “The reason I didn’t go to that Marketing Class is that I don’t want any more business!  I am overwhelmed half the time with my present workload!”

I understand your feelings!  But, let me ask you – “What if you could get rid of that 20% of your cases that are draining 80% of your energy and replace them with a few big cases working with really nice people?”  Doesn’t that have a good sound to it?

So each one of us has a personal reason to support PFAC’s Speakers Bureau!  We need speakers and we need members to identify local groups to speak to, to make arrangements and to introduce the speaker to the local group.  Even if you’re not the speaker, you will benefit by your association with the speaker!  On the next page of the newsletter is a sample letter for your use.

What do you think?  Is there a group in your community to whom you or one of our other PFAC speakers could speak?

Jeff Rubin, the presenter of “Marketing your Practice”, reminded us that every community has one or more Rotary Clubs and they need 52 speakers every year!  Most of our communities have Senior Centers and Bar Association meetings and CPA Society meetings and Financial Planner meetings going on all the time!

My phone number is (760) 728-6688 and email is micheri@pacbell.net.  Do a good thing for PFAC and benefit yourself at the same time.  Call me about the PFAC Speakers Bureau!
