Federation for Aging Research Since 1981, (AFAR) has helped

Who are your Tax Professionals
CTEC Registered Tax Preparers (CRTPs): This designation
is used by those persons who has successfully
complete a 60 hour
course approved for qualifying education, obtain
a certificate of completion from CTEC, and
obtain a tax
preparer bond.
They may not represent taxpayers in audits,
collections, or appeals,
except in limited capacity for audits under
a Power of Attorney.
Enrolled Agents: Those persons who have passed
a 2-day written exam on taxes administered
by the IRS
or worked
for the IRS
for five or more years in various positions
use this designation. An Enrolled Agent
is able to
represent
taxpayers before all
administrative levels of the IRS for audits,
collections, and appeals. The authority
of the IRS licenses
an Enrolled Agent.
Certified Public Accountants: Accountants
who pass a uniform examination in accounting
and
auditing
and satisfy
work experience,
statutory and licensing requirements
of the State(s) in which they practice are
certified
public accountants.
A CPA is also
to represent taxpayers before the IRS.
